The Centre for Renewable Energy is very happy to be able to host visiting experts from the WASTECOSMART project to Dundalk IT for a half day workshop on the 19th of May 2016.
The workshop entitled “Good for the economy, good for the environment – Tapping the potential of resource-efficient waste management” discussions of the EU regulatory framework and the Circular Economy package as a key drivers for innovative waste management and the application of European legislation in the Irish context. The workshop will also share hands-on experiences of European regions that have collaborated in the WASTECOSMART project in order to succeed with sustainable waste management at regional and local level. Best practices will be featured showing how innovative technologies and methods to reduce, re-use and recycle waste have been applied in the regional context.
The workshop will also highlight what role anaerobic digestion can play in recycling the organics stream from agriculture, Municipal Solid Waste and Source Separated Organics in view of avoiding landfilling or incineration of it. Moreover, a presentation will discuss different pre-treatment methods for organic and green waste streams before AD in view of ensuring maximum gas yield and continuous digester performance.
The workshop is a must for waste operators and managers, biogas plant operators, producers of large amounts of packaged food waste, academia and other public and private players who influence waste strategies.
